Since 1999, Thomas Tri Quach, MD, has operated an OB/GYN practice in Westminster, CA. Before beginning his career, Dr. Thomas Tri Quach graduated from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, CA, where he received the Walter E. Macpherson Scholarship.
Dr. Walter E. Macpherson dedicated nearly three decades of his career to the Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Medicine. A 1926 graduate of LLU’s predecessor institution, the College of Medical Evangelists (CME), Dr. Macpherson went on to serve for 10 years as an instructor, first at CME and then at LLU.
Dr. Macpherson subsequently returned to LLU in an administrative capacity, leading the school as president from 1942 to 1948 and then again from 1951 to 1954. After concluding his second tenure as president, he remained with LLU for another eight years, serving as a professor and dean.
Today, Dr. Macpherson’s dedication to the School of Medicine lives on through the Walter E. Macpherson Society. Established one year after its namesake’s 1962 retirement from LLU, the society has a long history of promoting excellence at the School of Medicine through the funding of scholarships, awards, professorial chairs, and grants.
Over the years, the society has also worked to enhance LLU’s campus by providing more than $1.25 million in funding for special projects and contributing to the establishment of facilities such as the Macpherson Amphitheater and the Macpherson Society Student Learning Center.
